Every figure assumes 15,000 km per year and uses current South African rates. The estimate is the sum of five parts:
- Fuel— the vehicle’s claimed consumption × 15,000 km × the current price (95 ULP R26.63/L, diesel R27.93/L). Electric vehicles show R0 fuel.
- Insurance— an actuarial baseline of about 2.1% of the vehicle’s value per year. Not a personal quote; your premium depends on your age, area, history and excess.
- Maintenance— modelled from each vehicle’s maintenance score (higher score = cheaper to run).
